One post a day challenge part 2!

Time to relax, go to the beach, play some games and do One Post a Day Challenge Part 2!

It’s vacations time!

Mafe Roig Photo Blog

If you have been following my blog for over a year now, you must have seen my One Post a Day Challenge from last year! During my one week off from work in July I decided to do one post a day during seven days to work on creativity, keep a record of my vacations and have fun!

I saw one of those post photos a few days ago I decided I wanted to do it again this year! So this is the first post of the challenge!

Today I went to the beach with my parents, then we we browsed a cute store near their house and they invited me to have dinner! It was the perfect start of my vacations! Hope you have a great week! And if you decide to do a challenge like this one sometime, let me know! I would love to follow you!

All of these photos were taken with my phone a One Plus 3 and then developed using Lightroom 3.

Day 5: Catching Pokemon and photos

I follow the work of a Venezuelan photographer called Jackie Rueda. Her work is so beautiful and she has this contest called La Búsqueda del Tesoro, which basically means The Treasure Hunt. She proposes twelve themes/subjects and the objective is to go out with your camera in hand and explore the city looking for each one of them.

So, today I told hubby that I wanted to go and lookg for the treasures I still haven’t find and we could also catch some Pokemon too!

We went to La Ciutadella, which is a beautil park in Barcelona. There were a bunch of people catching Pokemon too, the light was beautiful, the ambience was great and I found more treasures! Soon I will make a post sharing all of them!

Day 4: Inspiration and admiration

Sometimes we put the cameras away. Sometimes it’s necessary to take a step back and open your eyes to the world. It’s about finding things that inspire you. It’s about looking awith different eyes to something you’ve seen a thousand times before.

We have to keep our creativity flowing by finding inspiration in everything that surrounds us. Including other people’s life and their own personal challenges. The photo above was taken my brother to hubby while clicling today. This week they decided to auto impose a challenge of doing this route everyday. They inspired me to do my own One Post a Day Challenge. So this is entry is dedicated them. To thank them for inspiring me through their own determination. It’s a great photo and a great challenge.

Thank you!

Day 2: Cooking new recipes!

Having more free time is a blessing. One of the things I really like to do, is to cook. But during the weeks when I have work, I’m usally tired or just want to do other stuff than making lunch for the nex day.

That’s why I end up going for easy choices and fast things to make instead of having fun with it. That’s why this week I’m giving it all and experimenting with new recipes! So today I made a zucchini lasagna.

I recently became a fan of a venezuelan youtuber called Sascha Fitness. And in one of her most recent videos she shared this recipe and it looked so good I wanted to try it! It’s very easy to make, it’s very healthy and it tastes SO good! (Sorry! I was so hungry I didn’t take a photo of the lasagna served).

I will leave you here a link to her video so you can check out it out and see the recipe.  She has really good tips to lead a healthier life!

So this was day 2 of my One Post a Day Challenge!

How’s your week coming along?

One post a day challenge!

It’s time to catch up on reading, some video games, to do puzzles, sleep in, cook new recipes, drink wine and watch movies.

It’s vacations time!

I have a week off work and I thought it’s a great opportunity to catch up with things I love and one of them is blogging! So I decided to set a small challenge for me and do One Post a Day for a Week!

It’s a way to keep creativity and photos flowing. So I’m going to share photos of things I do during this beautiful week and tell some stories about them.

I took these today in the afertoon and Mango was very curious about what these tiny thing in the bowl were. I love how curious he is about everything so I decied to capture that small moment :).

If you feel encouraged to join me during this self-imposed challenge, please let me know! I would love to see you photos, read your blogs and share them at the end of the week!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Window

Since the Window Photo Challenge was published last Friday, I’ve been constantly thinking about it.

I really enjoy watching everyone’s Window posts. There is something about the choice of sharing “that window” view that feels kind of magical to me. Why that one? How many times a day do you see through it? Do you like what you see? What made you share that specific window?

Window

I chose this one because is my favorite window photo in my portfolio. It was taken around June 2012 in Barcelona. I was there on vacation with my parents. Little did I know a year later I would be living there.

I love the shape of windows here. They are so old and big, going from floor to ceiling, built in wood and they always squeak when you open or close them.

Making this place my home

As I’ve mentioned in older posts, I recenlty moved to Barcelona, Spain, after living all of my life in my hometown Caracas, Venezuela. Making a change like this is not easy. Deciding to move away from the place that watched you grow, from your family and your friends is very hard. However, as they say “change is good”, and due to this recent event I find myself paying more attention to phrases like “if you don’t take risks you are not doing anything”, “it’s better to try than do nothing and never know what could have been”.

So, here I am, trying! And this week Writing Challenge, comes perfect for me as I’ve been thinking a lot about sharing a song that’s helped me and inspired me through this experience. I’m talking about Phillip Phillips song “Home”.

I rembember I first listen this song after the airplane took of when my husband and I were leaving Venezuela. It made me smile. I felt inspired, excited and got this feeling that we made the right decision. I felt the words of the song spoke directly to me. Somehow I think it was meant to be that I listened this song for the first time when I did.

It’s been seven months since then. I’ve been trough a lot. It may sound very cliché, but it’s been an emotional rollercoaster.  I’ve met wonderful new people, gone to amazing places, cried my heart out, laughed till my cheeks hurt and took more photos than I’ve imagined…

Every day I try to make this place my home by adding new details to our apartament, by getting in touch with Barcelona’s culture, by getting to know more people and more places. We have basil, strawberry and aloe vera in our balcony. A purple orchid in our living room, my favorite stuffed animals from when I was a kid, a Rolling Stones magnet and six wine glasses for guests.

When my will flinches I listen in my head the words “don’t pay no mind to the demons they fill you with fear, the trouble it might drag you down, if you get lost, you can always be found” and remember how I felt in that airplane the first time I heard this song!
