Spring Everywhere!

I recently got the chance to work with a group of amazing, beautiful and very talented women: a jewelry maker, a pressional makeup artist and stylist and two amazing models. We did and incredibly beautiful photo shoot using srpingy-Barcelona as location and it coulnd’t have turned out more beautifully.

We went to a really nice park in the high part of the city and it was just the perfect set. There were trees and flowers everywhere! We did photos on different parts of the park to try and take it all in.

My purpose was to match the makeup of the models with the flowers in the park, to create contrasts and use that beautil spring, golden hour light. I did so many photos and was SO happy with most of them I ended up with more that 200 final images.

Hope you get spring vibes from this photos! And if you want to see a behind the scenes of it, you can check it out on this video I published on my Youtube Channel!

It’s time to catch up on reading, some video games, to do puzzles, sleep in, cook new recipes, drink wine and watch movies.

It’s vacations time!

I have a week off work and I thought it’s a great opportunity to catch up with things I love and one of them is blogging! So I decided to set a small challenge for me and do One Post a Day for a Week!

It’s a way to keep creativity and photos flowing. So I’m going to share photos of things I do during this beautiful week and tell some stories about them.

I took these today in the afertoon and Mango was very curious about what these tiny thing in the bowl were. I love how curious he is about everything so I decied to capture that small moment :).

If you feel encouraged to join me during this self-imposed challenge, please let me know! I would love to see you photos, read your blogs and share them at the end of the week!

Inspirational Instagram accounts!

Instagram is my favourite social media platform. I love discovering new accounts and filling my feed with beautiful images. Browsing through it it’s a delight and an inspiration form.

I believe all artists must stay in touch with other artist’s work to learn and keep creativity flowing. That’s why I like to fill my Instagram feed with all kinds of inspiring accounts.

Here are 7 of my favorite Instagram accounts (so far!) with no specific order.

I loved this account since I laid eyes on it. I absolutely love how clear the images are. Their simplicity, the peace they convey, the harmony of composition and colors in every shot. He also has a beautiful Tumblr page you can follow by clicking here!

OK, if you like colorful images, this is the account you must follow right now. This feed is AMAZING! It’s a beautiful, minimalistic gradient of colors. It started with dark purple tones and the current color is orange. The coolest thing is you can submit your own photos to be featured in the colorbunny account.

One of the things I like the most about photography it’s the possibility to tell stories without words. And that is exactly the thing that made me love so much this Instagram account. Beyond the fact that the colors and composition of each photo are beautifully accomplished, I feel the entire feed is telling us a story. All together, or looking at each picture individually, the stories behind these shots, must be amazing.

Let’s talk about eye candy. Because that’s exactly what this Instagram feed is! If you like pastels, minimalism and dogs, runnerkimhall‘s account is a must to follow. A glaze to this feed and you’ll feel like dreaming. It’s the perfect account to brighten even the darkest day!

The simplicity and strength of each image in this feed is unbelievable. Each photo is clean, soft and beautifully composed. One of the things I like the most about littleupsidedowncake is the light. Every frame is consistent in lighting and that provides the feed a soft, peaceful feeling. I just love browsing through this account. You can also enjoy more of this account by visiting the website http://www.littleupsidedowncake.com/

I find inspiration in all these Instagram accounts. Sometimes I don’t feel very creative or just need to freshen my mind by looking other’s photographers work, and Instagram is a great place to do that.

I love to discover new accounts every day! So if you have any suggestions, I would love to hear about them in the comments!

The photos are right there!

sangria mafe roig photo blog

A glass of sangria. Soft afternoon sunlight. A fresh breeze and a moment of peace.

My parents came to Barcelona for a surprise visit again! It’s the second time they do it and we still didn’t have a clue they were coming. They stayed for a little over a week.

We had a little picnic at the beach and then we walked back home and stop to eat something on the way. I took this photo while having lunch.

It was one of those moments when the scene builds itself in a perfect way. The color of the sangria, the orange and the light coming through the ice cubes. Sometimes the photos are RIGHT THERE. We just need to keep our eyes curious and awake so we don’t miss those moments. This light lasted for about 5 minutes (less than te sangria).

Of course I had to yell my parents to STOP and don’t drink it until I had my photo (sorry!).

(not sorry…)

I love it! And it’s a beautiful reminder of that moment and that day.

The Life I Want

Mafe Roig photography

“I want to live simply. I want to sit by the window when it rains and read books I’ll never be tested on. I want to paint because I want to, not because I’ve got something to prove. I want to listen to my body, fall asleep when the moon is high and wake up slowly, with no place to rush off to. I want not to be governed by money or clocks or any of the artificial restraints that humanity imposes on itself. I just want to be, boundless and infinite.” – Author Unknown

I read this last week when I was browsing Instagram and it clicked with me. When I read it, it was like if the person who wrote it climbed into my head, stole my thoughts and put them on paper in a way I couldn’t.

I think about a life like that every day. That is what I want and one of my ways to get it is through my photos. So I should do more of that!

It’s been kind of hectic lately so I’ve been away from my blog. But I’m very happy I found myself to write a little bit today again and share this awesome quote with all of you.

Hope you have an amazing week!

One Morning

There were a lot of dreams that night. There were oceans with waves as high as skycrapers; dolphins swimming in underground rivers lighten by the light of a millions fluorescent fireflies.

There were grandparents that are are long gone, gardens that live only in memories and feelings clouded by the veil of the night. The kind that dwell dreams and fade with sunlight and reality.

You wake up with the uncertainty of present mixed with the nostalgia of the past and the fear of future.

Like when someone feels he is falling from his bed and wakes up startled, thinking that somethin happened, just to realize that he was dreaming and everything remains the same.

You look around without knowing what to think and tell yourself that you must get up. And in that very moment its only up you to decide if it will be a good day or not.

Dragging your feet across the ground, very unconvinced of going out of bed and facing the worl, you get that cup of coffee that promises to clear up the fog in your mind and open your eyes for as long as the sun shines outside.

And without even thinking it, like summer sun in the middle of winter, a little, beautiful detail peeks, makes you smile and is no longer up to you.

Its going to be a good day.

The weight of a hot day

The apathy that comes with a hot day is unique. With the feeling that mind and body are moving in slow motion, to our detriment, getting over the simpler of tasks can turn into a complete agony …

On days like this, the heat seems to emanate from everything …humidity steals the oxygen, and even the wind is too tired to blow…

The monumental weight of a heat, that can only remind us of life in Macondo, falls on us and we surrender to a state in which, between despair and frustration, the mind refuses to think and the body refutes, heatedly, all orders to get in motion…

The result? We are at the mercy of temperature, floating in a sticky and wet limbo, with a blank mind wondering how are we ever going to get on our feet again…

The limbs are loosened mixed with the heaviness of the air… the eyelids surrender… the thoughts get tangled … and the 40 celsius degrees win the battle…

My First Post

Ok. So this is my first post in the blogger world. I have to admit that I have been wanting/thinking about starting a blog for a long time now but hadn’t done it  because I honestly could not decide on what to write about.

My first approach was to write about personal experiences, but after a while, I dispensed it. Why? Because I decided I don’t want to make a personal diary out of my blog.

I noticed that my intention with creating a blog was, not only to be able to express myself through writing, which I really, really miss from my college days. No,with my blog I also want to share knowledge and experiences that can be of use to others.

So, what to write about in a blog?

Well, as a result of the inquiry in my own mind and my motivations, I remembered a phrase I heard in a movie

“to write well, you must write about what you know”

Could not agree more. So that’s what I’ll do, I’ll write about what I know. I’m going to write about me, about my knowledges and my experiences merging them all in one purpose: sharing.

So with humble intentions I pretend my blog becomes the golden ratio between the personal and the professional, calling out to those who have growing interest for the world of marketing, love for photography and fondness for the culinary delights.

Hello, to all of you!
