There’s Always Something Going on in Barcelona

I’ve been living in Barcelona for almost 5 five years now. And one of the things that always catches my attention is that there is always something going on in the city. A vintage market, a swing concert at the park, a neighborhood festival or a traditional parade.

One of the things I recently discovered is Palo Alto Market. It’s a creative market that takes place the first weekend of every month in a beautiful, cozy, outdoors location. There are foodtrucks, concerts, exhibitions, contemporary designers and workshops.

I went last summer and was meaning to go for a while before that. I was always to lazy to do so, I think (crowded places make me nervous and it’s a fact that Palo Alto Market is very crowded). But we made our visit very early as soons as the market was opening, so we had it pretty much for ourselves and I managed to take really nice photos and to do a photo vlog for my YouTube Channel.

Every corner was beautiful. It felt like a little world inside the world. There was music, food, sweet aromas, flowers and a good vibe. I look at these images today in a rainy cold winter morning and my heart feels warm and cozy.

Small Things With Tons of Weight

It’s been a long time since I last posted something on my blog. It’s been kind of difficult for me to get stuff done lately (lately being the last 4 months). Since we moved (yes we moved to new apartment!) I feel I haven’t been able to get into my life rhythm again.

Everything is taking me forever to get done, even little things like small house chores such as watering the plants or refiling a water jar.

That has become a problem. It’s getting to me emotionally and mentally. I know I have all this things I have and want to do, but seeing myself not able to get to them makes me feel bad and overwhelmed. So I end up curled up with a blanket on the couch or the bed during all my spare time not getting any closer to even starting to do all of these things. It a vicious cycle now, I think.

A photo of a very relaxing and happy moment

I just can’t seem to concentrate on doing anything. Even things I like and enjoy such as blogging, editing my YouTube videos, streaming or even playing video games. And there are SO many things I want to do. Maybe that’s even part of the problem. Could I be putting too much pressure on myself?

This morning I thought the important thing is to set a schedule. Maybe that’ll help? At least until I’m able to jump into the rhythm again. The things is, that to aby by a schedule you need to be discipline and I have to admit that self discipline is a knack I extremely lack of.

I hope this blog post is the first small step that helps me get back on track.

Roadtrip Nature Photography

It’s been a while since we went on a roadtrip.

Mountains Mafe Roig Photography

Last weekend we went aways for a day and visited beautiful places that gave me the opportnity to practice nature and landscape photography. I took my time to snap each photo and then processed them using Lightroom.

I don’t know why, but every time we go on a roadtrip, the experience makes me feel more at home. The planning, getting the car, listeting to loud music while admiring the road sceneries, it feels right.

I also managed to do a short video for my new YouTube Channel. (Which I’m really excited about!)

I hope you feel at home too and have a beautiful week.

Perks of Mobile Photography

I have to confess that, for me, mobile photography represents a big challenge. It’s very difficult for me to find an angle I like when I shoot with my phone. Being such a wide angle lens makes is hard to frame a subject or a scene and I find myself taking so much time to do one shot.

However, mobile photography can be quite practical when you don’t want o can carry your professional equipment with you. That was the case for me last Sunday when I went for a walk with my parents.

I used my One Plus 3 phone and then processed the images using Adobe Lightroom. I just plated a bit with contrast and temperature to give the photos this kind of old look and feel.

I was happy I used my phone to document this day. It was a good day 🙂

Day 7: Not knowing!

So, vacations are over and so is one post a day challenge!

One of my favorite things about doing this challenge during a week of vacation is that I never know what my post is going to be about until the day is about to end. When I do this, I wait almost until before going to sleep so the post has relation with what I did that day.

That makes it a little bit more difficult, but is also more fun! I got to relax a lot this week. Sleep, stream, hang out with Mango and hubby… It was a perfect week.

Here’s a summary of my favorite photos from the challenge!

Day 5 and 6: Streaming photography!

Ok yes I know. I missed one day. But that’s good because the only reason I missed it was because it was a very good and when we arrived home at night I was so tired and sleepy I dind’t got to sit and post on the blog.

One of the things I did during the day was a photo stream on my Twtich Channel: Mafirette.

I worked photos from our trip to Vall de Nùria on Lighroom while chatting to people and explaning what I was doing! I’ve resumed streaming this week because I so excited about one of my birthday presents: a Ninendo 3DS XL with a capture card!!! I wanted one of those for a long time. So I got enthused with streaming again. Then at night, we went to a delicious restaurant to have dinner with my parents and there was wine (hence the not bloggin yesterday xD)

Here’s a gallery with the phtoso I developed yesterday! Hope you like them!

I’m bloggin early today because we are going to see the new Spiderman movie! So I thougth I’m not going to have time to post tonight.

Tomorrow is the last day of my challenge!

Day 4: Cooking time

Free time is a blessing when it comes to cooking.

Mafe Roig Photo Blog

I made pizza today! Is not something I usually do, because it takes a lot of time and dedication. But today was the perfect day to have home made pizza. I didn’t take a lot of photos because (as usual) I wsa very hungry and just wanted to eat hahaha. So I only took a few minutes to do this one. Food photography is very difficult and you have to take some time to prepare the scene, decorate a bit or it just wont look good. Light is super important too and sadly, mi kitchen has no source of natural light. So whenever I want to take  photo of a dish I making, I have to set it up somewhere else in the house, which makes it all more difficult.

🙂

Day 3: Mango time

One of the best things about being on vacation is to spend more time with mango.

Mafe Roig Photo Blog

He’s one year and a half now and he has changes do much since he was a pup. He more calm an loving now. He just wants to be near us and lay down or be pet. Today we took a nap together! He was so still at one point, I even forgot he was there. His breath calms me and he always warm and cozy.

These days we are taking longer walks, we sit and watch people go by and I’m so happy to spend more time with him.

(He was a great model today! He sat still and posed while I took his photo :D)

Day 2: Home and huge ice creams!

Today was a very relaxed day. We stayed at home for most of it and I felt appreciating it a lot. Knowing you can just sit or lay down with no schedules or appointments for at least one week.

Mafe Roig Photo Blog

My parents came over for lunch, hubby and I watched anime, we went shopping with a friend and I had the biggest and yummiest ice cream I’ve ever had! We also watched a horror movie called Hush at the end of the day and it left me with a weird feeling. So I decided to come write and share my photo of my One Post a Day Challenge Part 2 and see if I could relax again (it’s not working really well).

How’s your week coming along?

One post a day challenge part 2!

Time to relax, go to the beach, play some games and do One Post a Day Challenge Part 2!

It’s vacations time!

Mafe Roig Photo Blog

If you have been following my blog for over a year now, you must have seen my One Post a Day Challenge from last year! During my one week off from work in July I decided to do one post a day during seven days to work on creativity, keep a record of my vacations and have fun!

I saw one of those post photos a few days ago I decided I wanted to do it again this year! So this is the first post of the challenge!

Today I went to the beach with my parents, then we we browsed a cute store near their house and they invited me to have dinner! It was the perfect start of my vacations! Hope you have a great week! And if you decide to do a challenge like this one sometime, let me know! I would love to follow you!

All of these photos were taken with my phone a One Plus 3 and then developed using Lightroom 3.
